Highlights of Teaching:  Spring 2004.  Recognition by the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Minnesota State University, Mankato, for faculty recognized by their departmental peers as representative of outstanding teaching.

Outstanding Advisor of the Year: November 2002.  Recognition by the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Minnesota State University, Mankato, to faculty nominated by students to Advising U.

Apple Polisher Award: April 2002.  Recognition by Minnesota State University, Mankato’s Student Ambassador Club to professors who “students feel have had a significant impact on their lives.”

Academic:

University of Delaware: full academic scholarship for Ph.D. program of studies in Urban Affairs and Public Policy

West Chester University: fellowship (chosen as 1 of 4 university fellows) for graduate program studies in Public Administration.

Pi Sigma Alpha: Member National Honor Society of Political Scientists.

Who’s Who of University and College Students: West Chester University (1989-90).

Lewis H. Marshall Award for highest achievement in the study of government:  Chester County Association of Township Officials (1989).

PA Association Continuing Adult Education:  Nominee for outstanding adult student.

PA State Association of Township Officials:  Community Bulletin Editor Award

Grants & Special Achievements:

Minnesota System of Colleges and Universities (MnSCU) Bush Foundation Grant 2001-02, $5,000 grant to bring technology into urban studies classrooms.

Faculty Improvement Grant: 2003, $2,500 grant research and incorporate the pop music in urban America into urban studies courses.

Center for Excellence in Teaching And Learning Grant 2006, $2,000 to redesign Introduction to the City (URSI 100), incorporating active learning and problem solving skills.
