English or Humanities
499/677
Below are specific course requirements and expectations as well as writing assignments. The reading assignments are outlined in the syllabus below. In addition, each participant who wishes to earn an A in the course is expected to participate in the seven weekly class sessions by arriving on time and staying for the entire class meeting. We'll have no examinations; however, each participant will be expected to complete the following written assignments:
1. Keep a detailed course
journal in which responses to course readings, discussions,
activities, and films are included. Bring your journal entries
along to class each week.
2. Keep a
daily journal during the trip itself--making entries that describe
activities and include feelings, reflections, and impressions.
3. Write and
submit to Suzanne Bunkers (via e-mail in MS Word or Corel WP 8 no
later than April 20, 2007) a well-written, polished personal
narrative of 1500-2000 words (roughly the equivalent of six to
eight typed pages) which highlights learning from the readings,
films, guided excursions, and independent explorations on the trip
to Italy.
4. Attend
class and participate regularly (logging on at least three times per
week) in classroom discussions as well as D2L discussions about
readings, films, and related topics.
