Italy 2006

The 2006 trip began in Rome, where we toured the Colosseum, the Forum, the Pantheon, St. Peter's, the Vatican Museum, and historical sites and museums devoted to politics, art, and literature of antiquity and the medieval era.   We had one full day guided tour, one half-day guided tour, and another full day for independent sightseeing.  From Rome, traveled via train to Florence, where we visited the Duomo, the Uffizi, the Academia, and other major art museums as well as toured the historical and political sites central to the birth and flowering of the Renaissance.  We enjoyed one full-day guided tour, along with a bus tour of Siena and its environs.  There was also free time for individual exploration in and near Florence.
