Arrive Schiphol Airport 06.30 and proceed to connecting flight, NW #8239 departing at 09.35 for Bologna (operated by KLM); arrive 11.30 and proceed on a guided tour including Archiginnasio, seat of the medieval university and  the university district; continue for check-in at the Best Western City Hotel(http://www.bestwestern.it/BW/EN/98124_hotel_Bologna )

Bologna

Free day for independent exploration. Options include Medieval Museum, Museo Civico Archeologico.  Optional excursion to Ravenna with Drs. Kunkel and Bunkers to visit 1500 year old mosaics (B)

Bologna/Florence

Private motorcoach departure for Florence and check-in at the Residence Palazzo Ricasoli; afternoon orientation meeting and walking tour, including the Duomo and Palazzo Vecchio (B)

Morning (09.00) walking tour of the city, including entrance to the the Accademia(with its statue of David) and Uffizi Gallery (B)

Day free for individual exploration.

Optional excursion with Dr. Kunkel to Umbrian hill town of Orvieto, or with Dr. Bunkers to Montecatini Thermes (the baths) (B)

Transfer to SMN Station for 10.39 departure on train #9424 to Venice; arrive SL Station 13.28 and transfer, with assistance, by private motorlaunch to Hotel Belle Arti (http://www.hotelbellearti.com ); orientation meeting (B)

Morning departure (09.00) for a guided walking tour of the city, including the Doge’s Palace, followed by an excursion to Burano Island (B)

Free day for independent exploration; farewell dinner at local restaurant (B,D)

Transfer, with assistance, by private motorlaunch to the airport for 05.50 departure on NW #8484 to Amsterdam (operated by KLM); arrive 08.20 and proceed to connecting flight, NW #45 departing at 12.55 for the Twin Cities; arrive 4:00 p.m.
