Home, Sweet Home
I spent the first 24 years of my
life in Iowa, where I was born. Then, after migrating to Lafayette,
Indiana (briefly) and Madison, Wisconsin (for six years), I moved to
Minnesota to teach at Minnesota State University in Mankato.
All
photographs below were taken by Suzanne Bunkers. Please click on each

For several years, one of our
summer activities was driving 'up north' along the shores of Lake Superior
to Thunder Bay, Ontario. From there, we went even further north to
search for amethysts at various mining sites. |

Here is one of my favorite
Minnesota views along the North Shore of Lake Superior. I took this
photo from the top of the Split Rock Lighthouse during summer 1996. |

Cultural events abound!
The Mankato Citizens' Choir presents extremely impromptu concerts throughout
the winter holiday season at scenic sites. The mountain ranges of Mankato
lie just behind us. |

The Bunkers Home in
Mankato, MN. Our home is next to the historic
"Van Brunt Mansion," which was built during the Civil-War era. Our
house, which was moved onto this site in the early 1950s, has four storeys
and many unique features, such as the "Groovy Pad" in the basement.
A gigantic walnut tree in our back yard provides excellent shade. |

Emily and (the late) Kitty,
two feline members of the Bunkers family, greet you. Since I was a little
girl, I've been a cat person. Now my daughter shares this 'addiction.'
Past feline family members have included Mitzi I, Mitzi II, Herbie Meyer,
Midnight, Marco, Alice, Vincent, Teddy, Baby, Mitzi III, Buddy Lee, and
Kitty. At present our family shares our home with five cats:
Emily, Dani, Kiwi, Phoebe, and Lucy.

Watching a little T.V. at
home are Dani, Emily, and Lucy. Specifically, they are watching the
"Catnip" video, which features birds chirping and squirrels hopping about.
This video is a big hit at our house.
Below is a scene from the annual Wacipi,
or Pow Wow, held the third weekend in September at the Land of Memories Park
in Mankato.
The Wacipi (Pow Wow) brings together people of many races and
ethnicities from throughout the American and Canadian Midwest and beyond. |
