Film adaptation of The Freedom Writers' Diary (in progress):

Dear friend,

Our database management system has recently recovered your email inquiry regarding the documentary film about Erin Gruwell and the Freedom Writers.  While the documentary is still in the works, we are currently preparing for the January 2007 release of the feature film, "Freedom Writers."  The film stars Hilary Swank as Erin and a few of the original Freedom Writers will even be making cameo appearances!  Following the release of the movie, we hope to be able to complete and release the documentary film. 

In addition to the Freedom Writers movie, the Erin Gruwell Education Project is currently working on several exciting projects.  We are in the process of developing curriculum materials in print and multimedia formats that will assist teachers and administrators with the instruction of Erin Gruwell and the Freedom Writers' educational strategies.  Erin and the Freedom Writers are still traveling across the country sharing their story with various groups, and the Erin Gruwell Education Project is working diligently to fund collegiate scholarships for Freedom Writers and scholars of similar backgrounds. 

As you can see, it is a very exciting time for Erin and the Freedom Writers and we would love to keep you updated!
