It gives us pleasure to inform you that your panel "Life Reading: Diaries,
Fragments, and Memories as Translated Texts," to include the papers
“Crafting the Truth: Why Memoir is not the Translation of Life to the Page,”
“The Facsimiles Project: Translation and the Diaries of Anne Frank,” and “The
Limits of Life-reading: The Scholar as Translator” respectively, has been
accepted for the 6th Biennial Conference of the International Autobiography
and Biography Association, to be held here in Honolulu from June 23rd to
26th, 2008.
We realize that for funding purposes, different institutions and countries
establish their own criteria for what serves as an official notification of
acceptance to a conference. If this email is sufficient, please contact us
to confirm that it will suffice. If you need formal notification on
letterhead stationery or specific wording regarding your participation, also
contact us, and let us know precisely what your institution requires, so
that we can prepare the materials in the way that you need them. In either
case, we would like to know that you are accepting the invitation.
Regarding other matters, we are very close to having the information
regarding hotels, other sources of accommodation, and registration fees for
the conference. We will inform you as soon as these are confirmed; a
website devoted to the conference will
also be online shortly, and we will send you the URL.
We will be making decisions regarding financial assistance once we have
heard from people that they still wish to attend the conference. This
information will be available in January of 2008.
